Summary[edit | edit source]

After defeating the corrupted entity within the Gulp Swamp, Pizza awakes to Blackberry standing over them. Pizza tells her what they saw, and she says that she believes the darkness is somehow connected to Chicory. Pizza asks if the things that “Chicory” said in the corruption were real, and Blackberry just says that they need to speak with Chicory themself, saying that she won’t listen to her anymore. Pizza picks up the brush, having now gained the ability to jump. Pizza’s default expression changes to one of concern.

Blackberry explains further that these corruptions are more powerful than they had ever known before. The fact that they came about when Chicory had the brush, combined with the fact that she has begun appearing within them, gives her fear. She reiterates that Pizza must speak with Chicory about it.

They visit Chicory in the Wielder Tower, saying that they had seen her in the corruption in Gulp Swamp, and that Blackberry thinks it’s connected to her. Chicory is immediately effected. She says that the corruptions come from her, and expose her worst thoughts and fears. Corruption begins pooling around her, encompassing the entire room. Pizza desperately asks if what “she” had said to them in the swamp was real, that she didn’t really mean what “she” said, that she really believed in them and wanted them to be wielder. Chicory says that she doesn’t care who the wielder is, and asks them to leave her alone. Pizza is upset, they say that they looked up to her, they wanted to be friends. They say that they can’t believe they looked up to her. Pizza pauses, and realizes they went too far. They try to apologize, but Chicory just tells them to go away, and kicks them out of her room.

Pizza exits the Wielder Tower. They find a group of bugs walking over to them, carrying a letter for the Wielder. Pizza reads that there are troubling things happening in Feast, and they request their assistance.

To get to Feast, Pizza first passes through Dinners, meeting Clementine while they’re there. Clementine is surprised to see Pizza in the big city, and offers to have a slice with them. Pizza confides in her that they had a fight with Chicory, much to Clementine’s dismay. She comforts Pizza, saying that she’ll be with them no matter what.

Pizza makes their way through Grub Deep, meeting Prunus, a bug ambassador who can translate the bug language for them. Pizza finally finds their way to Feast, and meets Queen Drosera. Her Majesty calls Pizza cute, and says that the corrupted trees have begun twisting their roots into Feast, and they need Pizza’s help to take care of it. Pizza goes over to the corruption for a boss fight. The boss shifts, this time, into an apparition of Pizza themself.

Boss: But I AM you.

Boss: I know everything there is to know about you.

Boss: Look at you, playing the wielder.

Boss: You really think YOU should be the one holding that brush?

Pizza: Well... no...

Pizza: But... I'm doing my best!

Pizza: Chicory trusted me with it...

Boss: CHICORY?!

Boss: After what she said, you think she TRUSTS you?

Pizza: No. She probably hates me.

Boss: Of COURSE she does.

Boss: You're completely alone...

Boss: And EMBARRASSING yourself.

Boss: It's time we put an end to it.

After defeating the boss:
