Pizza is the default name for the protagonist of Chicory: A Colorful Tale. In-game they are named after the player’s favorite food, while out-of-game material will usually use the default name. They are also referred to by the generic title Drawdog.

Pizza is a big fan of Chicory and her work, and starts the game working as her janitor in the Wielder Tower. When the color disappears from the world, Pizza finds The Brush laying on the floor outside Chicory’s door, and “borrows” it, eventually becoming its proper Wielder after Chicory relinquishes the position to them.

Appearance

Pizza is a short dog with a large head and big floppy ears. Their attire is entirely customizable by the player, but at the start of the game and in most outside material they are wearing overalls and a bandana.

Pizza is the older sibling of Clementine, and child of Maple and Pecan. Some time before the game’s events, they moved out of their parents’ house in Potluck and into their own (sparsely furnished) house in Luncheon, where they worked as the barista at the cafe, before switching to working as Chicory’s janitor in the Wielder Tower.

• According to the Chicory Official Artbook, Pizza is 23.
  • This is intended, however, just as a loose reference point rather than hard canon.
  • Pizza’s birthday is the 28th of September.
• Pizzas "voice" in Song of the Wielders is pulled from the sample pack Super Audio Cart, as composer Lena Raine states in Composing for Chicory that their voice is a "collection of SNES samples [she] loves to pull from", and says elsewhere in another article (What Software Do You Use?) that this sample pack's SNES samples are some of her favourites.

  Pizza's leitmotif

  Pizza's leitmotif appears throughout the soundtrack, most notably in The Town of Luncheon.
  • Pizza’s identifying instrument is the recorder.
• “Drawdog” was the working title for Chicory: A Colorful Tale.
• In Japanese, the default name is プリン (purin), meaning pudding. This is the only language in which the default name is not Pizza.
• Because their dad owns the Holey shop in Potluck, he brought them holeys for meals very often. This gave Pizza a strong distaste for them, despite their popularity and presumed quality.
• Pizza never got their Transit Pass until the game’s events, despite repeated reminders from their mom to do so.
